My rustic style Christmas table decor

I’ve hosted Christmas dinner at our house now for the past 4 years. All our family live in Yorkshire and previously we have always packed the car up and travelled down there on Christmas eve, then visited everyone on Christmas day. My parents are separated so as you can imagine it was a lot of driving around and not very relaxing as we wanted to keep everyone happy. As the children have got older, the car was getting fuller and Alfie and Jersey wanted to be at home to play with their toys rather than be dragged along to everyone’s houses! So we made the decision to stay at home and we always have an open house for family, everyone is welcome. This works really well and I absolutely love hosting and cooking Christmas dinner. Last year we had 11 in total but this year there’s only 6 of us which means we can all fit around my dining table nicely. Here’s my top tip if you are entertaining the masses this year which is what we did last year. Rather than borrowing or digging out emergency tables and pushing a couple together which can look a bit messy we bought a large piece of plywood that sat on the top of our dining table, then I just bought a huge linen table cloth and no one would ever have known!

I love everything about hosting on Christmas day, planning the menu, cooking the food and especially decorating the table. There’s so much to think about at this time of year but with a bit of forward planning you can have your table looking super stylish without spending a fortune. This year I’ve decided to go for a simple, natural, rustic style table setting. So I’m thinking lots of textured materials like linen & jute, fresh greenery like eucalyptus and snow berries. Branches & Pine cones then finishing off with clear glass vessels and lots of candle light.

You can keep the price down by foraging in your local woodland and reusing old jam jars etc.. or you can pop to your local florist. I needed to go to Country Baskets to pick a few things up for a project that I’m working on so while I was there I gathered a few small glass vases & jars which were only about £1.50 each and some faux flowers which are great because you can reuse them. I’ve made a list of the items that I’ve used below so you can recreate this look in your home. Then all you need to do is plan the menu and pop open the prosecco!
