get your home knitted out for winter

A few years ago I bought a book called Purls of wisdom….The book of knitting. All because {don’t laugh} I had seen a cafetière cosy {see image below} in a magazine that was hand knitted using a pattern in this book so in one of my crazy moments I thought right… I want a knitted cafetière cosy…..I’m going to learn how to knit! I have been able to do simple stitches ever since my Nan showed me how when I was about six years old so in my head it was going to be a doddle! The intention was there…. but it’s just never happened so the book is sat looking pretty on my bookcase! Do you ever do that? Maybe one day when the kids are older I’ll have more time for hobbies. If you’re thinking for one minute that knitting is for grannies then you haven’t been introduced to the glamour queen that is Lauren Aston. Check out her website here. She is also about to release a book. Super chunky knits is available to buy from the 14th November… maybe I’ll buy that with the same good intention as the other or maybe it will be the inspiration that I need to pick up those needles!

Purls pf wisdom book, Jenny Lord, knitted cafetière cosy

I honestly love the look of knit and as the weather is getting colder we’ll all be pulling out our cosy chunky knit sweaters, so now is the perfect time to incorporate more knitted accessories to your home. Chunky knits, knitted wallpaper, knitted throws, mug warmers, rugs and furniture.  When the temperatures drop, these knitted accessories add a touch of physical and visual warmth to your home.  Rich in texture and full of depth, these pieces look wonderful set against smooth modern finishes and also layered up in more rustic interiors. Here are some of my favourites right now, I’ve added a few macrame pieces in there too, I know this isn’t knitting but it’s not too dissimilar is it?! You might also find a few gift ideas amongst these. Enjoy and snuggle up!
