The clocks have gone forward but these lighter evenings and sunny days are well worth loosing an hours sleep for don’t you think?! So full of the joys of spring here’s the lowdown on what I’ve been loving and looking forward to sharing with you.
{INTERIORS}
As you’ve probably worked out, I love having plants and flowers (real and faux) around the house, they add colour, texture, ambience and make a room come alive in so many different ways. The way you choose to display them makes all the difference, it’s good to play around with different heights and scale. I’ve already got a couple of hanging planters which I love but I’ve been on the look out for a plant pot holder to raise them off the floor, I feel it adds a new dimension and they look great when you group a few plants together. I just love the simplicity of this one from Violet & Thistle and I like how the metal has a certain amount of flexibility at the top so you can use your own plant pot. I was just about to check out when this gorgeous stoneware vase slipped into my basket. I don’t often see vases that I love but I was drawn to the colour and texture of this one and thought it would be perfect for my all time favourite spring flowers!
Next I wanted to share this fabulous print that I was sent by James from Lines Behind. This one features all the great landmarks within my hometown of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, each time a look at it something different pops out. They can be personalised in any colours, with any town/country and you can even state which landmarks you want on there from the very first place you met to your favourite restaurant or you can simply order the Town/Country of your choice and James will design it for you. They would make a fabulous gift. Which would you choose? I think San Francisco has to be one of my favourite destinations and would look great in print with the Golden Gate Bridge & Alcatraz etc…
{FASHION}
I must have a thing for pink at the moment as last months edit featured my gorgeous pink jumper. This month I am obsessing over these metallic pink buckle loafers from & Other Stories. I must admit that when they first arrived and I tried them on I cringed at how white my feet were! They’ve been hidden away under socks and boots for far too long and I wasn’t quite ready to bare such ghostly pale flesh! Thank goodness for St Tropez!! At £69 they are not the cheapest but I think it’s always good to pay a bit more for shoes, good shoes can complete any outfit and the the quality is amazing. They are the softest leather making them ultra comfy.
{READING}
I’ve followed Aimee Song’s blog, Song of Style for a while now. Her pictures are always stunning and her blog always felt just a cut above the rest, she also has over 4.5 million followers on Instagram. She’s obviously doing something right so I was intrigued when I saw her book. The forward by Diane Von Furstenberg says it all “The most important thing, in Instagram and in life, is to know who you are and stay true to that.” I’ve been using Instagram for a couple of years now and I truly believe that. The book is not only pretty to look at, it is a very detailed book, full of tips and hints on how to get the most out of Instagram. It is broken down into 5 chapters and she guides you through each of them, from capturing your style to storytelling to growing your audience. If like me you’ve been using Instagram for a few years you will probably find that you’re already familiar with a a lot of the content but there were certainly areas that I found inspiring and helpful. For example, Selfie school…. I’ve never been good at taking Selfies!! Also there’s some great advice on which photo filtering apps to use to create the perfect shot. The book isn’t only helpful for instagram though, I would say that if you are interested in learining the basics of photography or blogging then this book needs to be in your life.
Also If you’re struggling with engagement on Instagram then head over to Dominique’s blog and download her free Instagram engagement booster e-Book. Dominique is better known as @allthatisshe on Instagram and has gained over 100k followers In the last 12 months. Her feed is beautifully unique and fresh and she is also a fellow Geordie which makes her extra special!
